Why choose me?

A warm welcome

I am an independent funeral celebrant but before embarking on this vocation, I served as a police officer for 30 years. As such, I have witnessed first-hand the turmoil & heartache that death can bring, as well as experiencing my own personal loss. As a result of these experiences, I have developed compassion, empathy, patience & humility when supporting people grieving, which is borne out by my testimonials.

I enjoy creative writing that is original, imaginative & inspired.

I am a confident, enthusiastic & experienced public speaker.

Throughout my life I have actively worked to advance equality & inclusion & to celebrate diversity.

I hold a diploma in grief & bereavement counselling

What is my role?

I create & lead unique non-religious or semi religious funeral services.

A funeral service may take any shape & take place anywhere but traditionally will happen at a crematorium, cemetery or woodland burial ground.

Before the service, I will meet you & sensitively work with you to create a fitting celebration of the person who has died that perfectly captures their personality & honours their memory. I will listen carefully to your wishes & with your permission,  offer suggestions to help create a bespoke service fitting for your loved one. I can also advise on practical measures such as the amount of time available for the service.

On the day of the service itself I will greet you & the other mourners. I will always aim to leave you with a warm memory of your family member, loved one, friend or colleague enabling you to acknowledge their loss & say goodbye.

Testimonials

"Kelly's calm & compassionate approach to her role as a celebrant made such a difference to what would otherwise have been an impossible day for me. Her reassuring presence & quiet efficiency allowed me to create the exact ceremony I have envisioned to fully honour my beloved mum. I would recommend her to anyone."

Lisa, Dorset

"Kelly's kind & considered preparation & delivery at mum's funeral gave a real sense of personal identity to what was by choice, a relatively simple affair. Her style was relaxed yet sincere without being sombre; the combination of which made a difficult day more bearable & befittingly memorable"

Julie, Devon

"For my mother, a day approached that was to be one of the most difficult in her life. Kelly spent an afternoon with her and other members of the family before the funeral, and reassured her that the celebration of my father’s life would be dignified and positive. Kelly used my mother’s memories in her beautiful service which was particularly important for the family. Kelly was caring, professional and quietly confident, and guided us through a difficult day. Wonderful. Thankyou Kelly. And you even made the sun shine."
